Asbestos
Asbestos was banned in France in 1997. For buildings whose permit was issued before 1 July 1997, an asbestos survey before works is mandatory before touching the materials. It is done by a certified surveyor.
Lead
Old paint, especially in homes built before 1949, can contain lead. Sanding or scraping it releases dangerous dust. A lead risk report shows where it is.

The survey is done by a certified professional who is independent from the building contractor. We tell you which one to order, and adapt the work to its findings.
What it changes on site
If asbestos or lead is present, some areas need special protection or a specialist company. It is better to know before the quote than in the middle of the work.
